In history, the types of students admitted consisted of students who told a cohesive story about themselves. They focused on fresh word choice and how their own academic interests directly coincide with Rice. This involves researching your part and finding a way to express your unique voice. They concentrated on their academic focus and what they loved about their chosen major. They described specific opportunities and resources available at Rice. The more details and specifics included, the better. Avoid generalities.

What aspects of the Rice undergraduate experience inspired you to apply? (150 word limit)
I was fortunate to attend the 2019 Rice ECE Corporate Affiliate’s Day on my campus visit. Walking along the hallways of the Engineering Building, I was fascinated by the elaborate data charts and the depth of the research projects. Moreover, I was amazed by the inclusiveness of the Rice community. A presenter shared his project, Deep Feature Learning in Human Sensing Data, and answered my questions, regardless of my expertise on the topic. I can imagine myself in this positive research environment, sharing my knowledge and understanding with my peers while developing our skills together. The atmosphere of collaboration at ECE Day made me look forward to the Rice undergraduate experience. I hope to participate in the event again, next time in the role of a participant and a contributor. I am also excited to join many campus clubs including the Rice Environmental Society and Rice Global Affairs Review.
